Who is this for?
The programme is designed for Leaving Cert students at any stage of the decision process, from those with no clear idea of what comes next to those who already have a direction and want to test or confirm their thinking.
A clear, structured process
The programme brings together an individual student interview, structured assessment and professional interpretation to build a rounded picture of the student and turn it into practical guidance.

Book & Prepare
Choose an available appointment and provide some initial background information before the first meeting.

Student Interview
An individual online meeting exploring subjects, interests, experience, current ideas, uncertainties and what the student wants from the future.

Career Interests & Psychometric Assessment
The student completes structured assessments exploring career interests and preferred ways of approaching work. This adds another layer of evidence to the interview.

Professional Review & Report
The interview, assessments and academic profile are considered together and turned into a personalised Career Guidance Feedback Report.

Feedback Consultation
The findings are discussed in a dedicated consultation, online or in person. At least one parent or guardian is strongly encouraged to attend.

Research, Courses & CAO
The student receives structured support for further career and course research and, where relevant, one final review of their proposed CAO list.

About Garry
Garry Griffin has worked in education since 2001. Over that time, his roles have included teacher, educational leader, Director of Adult Education, learner support and guidance-related work, giving him broad experience of how students learn, develop and make important education and career decisions.
He is professionally qualified in psychometric assessment and brings a practical, thoughtful and evidence-informed approach to the C&E service.

Should a parent or guardian attend the meetings?
The initial student interview is conducted solo (Online) to ensure the student can speak freely. However, we strongly encourage at least one parent or guardian to participate in the feedback consultation to discuss the report and recommended next steps.
What exactly is included in the personalised report?
The report provides a comprehensive summary of the student's academic profile, psychometric assessment results, and career interests. It identifies potential career paths and specific courses, serving as a practical roadmap for future research and decision-making.
When is the ideal time to start this career guidance programme?
The programme is highly beneficial for 5th and 6th Year students. Beginning in 5th Year allows more breathing room for exploration, while 6th Year students often value the immediate clarity it brings to their final CAO choices and course applications.
Can this help students who already have a clear career goal?
Absolutely. While many students are unsure of their path, others use the programme to validate their current ideas, explore alternatives they might have missed, and gain the confidence that their chosen direction is truly aligned with their strengths.
How are the online and in-person sessions managed?
The primary student interview is held online via Google Meet for convenience. For the detailed feedback consultation, families can choose between a virtual meeting or an in-person session, depending on their preference and location.
